Keep the Faith

Having Parkinson’s is a lifetime disease which currently has no cure. As such, it can be a bit rather dismal at times. Depression and anxiety are commonly found in those which have been diagnosed. And while it is important that you have friends and family to talk to as well as seek a support group for some of your anxiety, it is critical that you do not lose your faith. Those at We Have Parkinson’s subscribe to Christian beliefs, and while we understand that not everyone subscribes to those beliefs, for those that do, we would like to offer some scriptural encouragement.

Psalm 103:2-5

Bless the LORD (YHWH), O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Proverbs 3:7-8

Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD (YHWH) and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.

Exodus 23:25

So you shall serve the LORD (YHWH) your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you.

Isaiah 38:16

Lord, your discipline is good, for it leads to life and health. You restore my health and allow me to live!

While this life consists of no shortage of trials and problems, we are promised that in the end, all will be made well. So while our bodies may never function better as each day progresses, and perhaps just the opposite, in the end, our Creator will restore us whole, and much more.

1 Corinthians 15:43

Our bodies are buried in brokenness, but they will be raised in glory. They are buried in weakness, but they will be raised in strength.

We encourage all to “keep the faith.”

While helping those with Parkinson’s disease is certainly a passion for us, sometimes focusing on the bigger picture of life helps us to get through the day.
